Palmetto Trail

The Palmetto Trail is 472 miles across South Carolina. It starts in Oconee State Park near the GA/NC borders and winds through mountains, hillsides, farmlands, marsh, swamp to the Atlantic Ocean by way of several small towns and big cities to end at Buck Hall Landing in Awendaw.

The trail is divided up into sections and passages to make planning an adventure easier. The terrain for this journey varies from wilderness trail to forest road, dirt, gravel, paved and sidewalks. The established parts of the trail equal up to about 3/4 finished so there are road pieces to connect the completed sections. These road walks are on back roads and primarily avoids high speed traffic on the busier highways.

It is an amazing adventure that will take the average hiker about 1 1/2 - 2 months to complete a thru-hike on.

My experience in South Carolina was truly a journey of happiness, adventure and fun. The people along the path added so much to the experience.
